The Devonport GP Superclinic provides an active involvement in the teaching of medical students, with a continuous involvement with the University of Tasmania Medical School, north-west campus.

There is opportunity for GPs to become involved with teaching – there are currently eight academic GPs on staff.

The practice is accredited with GPET and attains an exceptional record in teaching. All registrars trained in the practice have passed their RACGP first attempt.

Four GP mentors are currently available, at both the Wenvoe Street and Williams Street medical centres.

The practice is a training practice for nurses, employment both EN and RN nurses. We also provide the facilities for student nurses on rotation from the University of Tasmania.

Our practice welcomes medical students from the University of Tasmania Medical School. We believe that teaching the next generation of doctors is of vital concern to our community and the future of medical care in Australia. It is critical to give young medical students exposure to the great experience of working in general practice, to help ensure they seriously consider medical practice as a career path.
